Wanaka Winery2011 Wheedle and Thread
Reserve Red Wine
46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot, and 9% Malbec
Part homage to popular children’s book character and eventual Seattle mascot created by S. Cosgrove, to wheedle is to artfully persuade and we hope after tasting this wine you too are convinced of its pinnacle reach and mountainous scale. To achieve this, grape yields were controlled at less than 1.5 tonnes/hectare. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were fermented in 700 litre Demi Muid rotary fermenters and barrel aged separately in new Taransaud and Seguin Moreau Icône French Oak. Russian Oak barriques were used to age the Petit Verdot and Malbec. The Cabernet Franc was aged in a Francois Frere 500-liter Puncheon. After 16 months, the best barrels were blended and were re barreled into Puncheons for an additional 15 months. The wine was bottled in May 2014 and released 2015. This bottle belongs to a limited portion of 95 cases reserved for extended aging for release 2020 and ready to be enjoyed now or during the next decade. We think you will find the fine tannins, ripe red berry fruits, oak spiciness, and full balanced palate a complex and pleasant story with the embrace of a warm character taken to heart. We recommend decanting to fully enjoy this exceptional wine.

Regardless of the date or temperature during shipping: Wine spoilage in transit is NOT covered. Expedited/overnight shipping or shipping insurance DOES NOT change this policy. When purchasing shipping insurance, remember that shipments are only covered for theft, breakage during shipping or complete loss of the package. If you have purchased wine but are worried about heat spoilage or freezing temperatures, simply let us put the order on hold, and we will ship when you want. We do our best by storing the wine in optimum conditions and accurately describing the condition of the bottles, but obviously this is as far as we can go when it comes to quality assurance.
