Amplitron MU-4 is an electrovacuum microwave device intended for amplification and generation of electric oscillations of ultrahigh frequency (operation in pre-finite cascades in amplifying chains consisting of TWT and 2 amplitrons connected to each other).
Crossed Field Microwave Amplifier
MU-4 has the property of microwave transparency and allows to regulate the output power step by step by switching on the amplification stages.
Their current use is in ground stations for TVRO broadcasting and Deep Space telecommunications networks
(used in tropospheric communication systems and long-range radar - in the saturated amplifier mode).
Amplitron MU-4 has a packaged, metal-ceramic design with a heated cathode and coaxial-waveguide energy output in the 8x48 mm channel.
