Description
I AM NOT SELLING A KIT OR SAILPLANE MODELonly new, full-size copies of 2 great PLANS to build
both
the Jasco
SAILWING 50
and
FLYING WING
models.
The
JASCO SAILWING 50
was kitted in 1956 as an outstanding towline glider. It featured a drop-away, multi-station towing bar that you would use to get the model to tow up straight, and it flew nicely every time. The wing span is 58 inches and all of the parts patterns are on Frank Zaic's fine kit
PLANS
.
In 1951 Air Trails came out with a
FLYING WING
(similar to but not the same as the Jasco kit) which added a Wasp .049 engine to the front and did away with the need for running through the fields to get the plane in the air. The swept back wing span on this model is 55 inches. Like the Jasco kit
PLAN
, all of the ribs and others parts patterns are on the
PLAN.
These would be great for small RC rigs and electric power.
As a
BONUS
I also include a vintage article by the
SAILWING 50
designer, Frank Zaic, on how to fly tow-line gliders successfully, as well as several other very good TLG articles. My 8th picture shows the first page of Zaic’s multipage article.
As a boy, Pop covered his SAILWING 50 with monokote since he had to fly in a rough pasture and did not want to tear a Japanese tissue covering. It held up well and I still have his SAILWING 50 in the shop. It is not for sale.
