Mollydooker Gigglepot Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Description

The fruit for the Gigglepot comes almost entirely from the Prime Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard in McLaren Vale. Warwick and Jenny Prime have been with us for 9 years, and always grow according to the Marquis Vineyard Watering Programme. They picked on 21st March. They only produce a small amount of intensely flavoured fruit, so we never have much of this wine. This year we blended in a tiny amount (3% of the blend) of Joppich Cabernet, to add the aromatic lift that Langhorne Creek Cabernet is famous for.
Gigglepot is a gorgeous wine which is distinctly Cabernet, from the intensity of dark fruits to the direct tannins and fresh acidity. Completely balanced in every way, it has layers and layers of sweet fruit rolling over dark chocolate, and a rich creamy palate. It ends with anise spice and lingering coffee flavors. Stunning!
Made with 100% McLaren Vale fruit and aged 80% in American oak with the balance 20% French, the deep garnet-purple Gigglepot Cabernet Sauvignon presents a nose of creme de cassis, chocolate-mint and a lovely spicy undercurrent accented by cinnamon stick. Full-bodied and voluptuous with tons of cassis flavor, it is very spicy and minty in the mouth and is framed by a low level of soft tannins through the long, warm finish. Drink it now to 2020+.
