Melania Trump describes being jolted awake by Secret Service agents during violent protests

The former first lady reveals how she was rushed to a bunker during Black Lives Matter demonstrations at the White House in new book

Melania Trump has described being jolted awake by Secret Service agents during violent protests outside the White House.
In the latest promotional video for her upcoming memoir, the former first lady, 54, appears to recount how she and her family were briefly rushed into the underground bunker during the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020.
In the short clip, Mrs Trump wears a black blazer and speaks to camera while tense music plays in the background.
“The loud knocking on my door sent a jolt through my body”, she says, adding: “The Secret Service agent told me I need to move, safety was paramount, not just for me, but for the president and all of the other residents in the White House.”
Mrs Trump adds: “The violent protests across the country had finally reached Pennsylvania Avenue.”
While the former First Lady does not give further information, she appears to be referring to the Black Lives Matter protests.
On 31 May 2020, Donald Trump, his wife and their son, Barron, were briefly taken into the White House bunker as protesters gathered outside.
The following day, Trump praised the Secret Service for its handling of the protests in the wake of George Floyd’s murder in Minneapolis.
Mrs Trump has been posting short videos to promote her upcoming memoir Melania, which is set to be released on Oct 8.
In an earlier clip, Mrs Trump compared her nude modelling to Renaissance art.
It comes days after Trump admitted he has not read his wife’s book because he is “so busy” on the campaign trail.
The Republican candidate urged his supporters to buy his wife’s “great” upcoming memoir at a rally on Long Island, New York on Wednesday night.
“People love our first lady. Go out and get a book. She just wrote a book,” he said.
“I hope she said good things,” he continued, admitting “I don’t know”.
“I didn’t [read it]. So busy,” he added.
